Like last year, 10 teams are participating this time as well, but with a few changes. Check out the complete list of 2023 IPL Teams with Venues , captains and coaches here.

Stadium No 1:

Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur.

Located in the heart of Jaipur , this stadium has a seating capacity of over 30,000 spectators and it is one of the finest cricketing stadiums in the Indian sub-continent.

Pitch Report :

It is hard to predict the pitch behaviour but in general ,the stadium has got a bowling-friendly pitch that favours both pace and spinbowlers. During night , spin attackers almost control the game. Batting 2nd has to take extra care otherwise has to taste the loss. The hughest score is below 200-mark at this stadium in IPL history and only once has a batsman scored a 100. The boundaries are also bigger at the Jaipur stadium

But it is seen that sometimes the team winning the toss is go for bowl first as the pitch always has something to offer for the pacers in the first few overs.

Stadium No 2:

Mohali Stadium

Full Name: Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium

Location: Mohali,Punjab,India.

Capacity: 27000 ( Approx)

Pitch Report :

We can see a green pitche here and this Stadium @ Mohali and due to this green pattern, this pitch proves helpful for fast bowlers. The batsmen have to be careful in the beginning, pace bowler’s can play with dangerous swing in the first half of the match because there is grass on the wicket but as time passes, the pitch becomes slow. It becomes easy to bat in the second .

Stadium No 3:

Rajiv Gandhi Stadium ,Hyderabad

Information Seating Capacity: 55,000

Boundary Dimensions: Medium size ground, ranges between 66-69 meters on the square and 69-71 meters straighter boundaries. Number of matches hosted: 5 Tests, 7 ODIs, 5 T20Is and 67 IPL matches

Pitch Report :

Pitch of Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has flat wickets, means we can say that it has dry surface which allows batters to play hard shot and hit boundaries, but it is seen that it has helped slower bowlers as the game progresses. So the spinner also gets support from the pitch and provide a vital role in the match. And like most venues, the chasing team has enjoyed majority of the success in Hyderabad as well, but the team batting first also registered victory.

From the data in this venue, the first team scored 200+ runs on board. According to the last five IPL matches played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and their average scores in both T20 innings, was between 150 to 160 runs in the first innings of IPL match. Teams chasing scores have been more successful at this venue and that is why the captain winning the preferred to field first.

Stadium No 4:

Wankhede Stadium , Mumbai

Stadium Capacity : 33,108

pitch report:

Wankhede Stadiumhas flat wicket and the pitch is good for the batsmen. As per data the average score in IPL in this pitch is almost 180 runs. However, chasing runs in the second innings is also good here. As the dimension of the stadium is medium , so short boundaries, and fast outfield gives the batsmen an advantage. Big scores will be seen in the matches to be held here. If the start is good, it will be easy to touch the target of 200 runs here.

Stadium No 5:

M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, India

Capacity : 33500

MA Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report :

The pitch in Chennai is good for spinners. This pitch generally helps the spinners, but sometimes this ground shows the opposite behavior.

Teams batting first have been more successful than teams chasing a target at Chepauk. Hence, MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson may look to bat first after winning the toss tonight.

Stadium No 6:

The Eden Garden, Kolkata

Eden garden Pitch Report :

Stadium No 7:

M Chinnaswamy stadium

Capacity : 40000

Pitch Report :

The track at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been fruitful for batting as batters can hit through the line and the shorter dimensions also help their cause.Pacers can generate swing with the new ball. The two previous games played at this venue in IPL 2023 saw teams successfully chasing down targets in excess of 170.Hence, bowlers can’t afford to miss their marks. The pitch in Bengaluru helps the batters a lot. Bowlers have had a tough time on this ground. High-scoring matches are quite frequent on this ground. The same trend should continue in the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals.

IPL matches played: 83

Matches won by teams batting first: 33

Matches won by teams batting second: 46

Matches Tied: 0

Matches Abandoned: 4

Highest individual score: 175* – Chris Gayle (RCB) vs. Pune Warriors, 2013

Stadium No 8:

Arun jaitley Stadium

Capacity : 55000 person

Pich Report :

In IPL the Arun Jaitley Stadium has served as the home ground for Delhi Capitals several times and was previously known as Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium. The pitch of this stadium can be termed a bit slow, and help the swing bowler , so batsman need to be careful during first innings. The team batting first will easily tend to score around 170 runs due to its small boundaries and a quick outfield. Teams chasing have won more games in IPL as compared to teams batting first.

Stadium No 9:

Narendra Modi Stadium , Ahmedabad

Previously known as the Motera Stadium, the venue is the world’s largest cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 1,10,000 spectators. In 2015, the stadium was demolished for renovation and inaugurated again in 2021.The track offers assistance to spinners. However, the quick outfield gives the batters good returns for their shots. The toss-winning skipper would want to chase due to the dew factor.

Pitch Report

The surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is known to be flat. IPL 2023 opening game between GT and CSK also saw the score of 178 being comfortably chased. Hence, the trend should continue and the team winning the toss might look to bowl first.

Stadium No 10:

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium and Pitch Report

Now, we take a look at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium Dharamsala information, T20 and IPL records at the venue ahead of IPL 2023: HPCA Stadium Dharamsala Information Seating Capacity: 23,000 Ends: River End and College End Boundary Dimensions: The boundary size is 70 meters across the field except for the one shorter square boundary. Number of matches hosted: 1 Test, 4 ODIs, 10 T20Is and 9 IPL matches .

HPCA Stadium Dharamsala Pitch Report:

The pitches at the venue have aided the quick bowlers, but has seen a few high-scoring first innings totals in the limited overs formats with the chasing team often finding it tough to chase down the target. However, the recent two T20Is have shown the teams chasing have won the match.

The balls comes on nicely to the bat and one could witness a high-scoring contest on Saturday. Due is likely to play its part in the second innings and thus both teams would be looking to bowl first upon winning the toss.

Ekana Stadium Pitch Report

The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium was inaugurated in 2017. Ekana Stadium is located in Lucknow and has been the home ground for the Lucknow Super Giants since the IPL 2023 season.

The Ekana Cricket Stadium features black soil pitches that favor pacers, although spinners are also expected to contribute during the middle overs. Dew can be an issue in night matches, making it difficult for bowlers to grip the ball in the second innings.

Lucknow is set to host seven IPL matches this season, and a total of three Indian Premier League matches have been played at this venue. The team batting second has won twice, while the team batting first has only won one game.

The average first-inning score at this stadium is 158 runs. However, in their first home game, the Lucknow Super Giants smashed 193 runs while batting first, which is also the highest IPL total at this venue. Conversely, the lowest total here is 121 runs, which was scored by SRH.

The team that wins the toss is likely to opt to bowl first, as chasing the target at Ekana Cricket Stadium is relatively easier. However, a high-scoring match is anticipated due to the strong batting line-up of both teams.
